WIDE AWAKE MY LITTLE OCEAN CHILD

YOU SAID "GET ME UP WITH THE SUN"

COAST IS MIST, INLET SUNLIT-KISSED OUR DAY HAS ONLY BEGUN

BEYOND THE CAPE, THE WAVES TAKE SHAPE

BREAKERS CRASH AND WE RUN

LAUGH AND PLAY ON THIS SUMMER’S DAY

LOVE AND THE FATHER AND SON

I’VE BEEN WATCHING THE SEA LIGHT FLASHING

UP THE WAVE CRESTS, SAND AND SUN

AS THE WHITE BEARD SEA FOAM BRIMMING

SHORE BIRDS ARE ON THE RUN

BY THE WAY I WISH WE COULD STAY

FOREVER AS FATHER AND SON

OUR LIVES WILL FLOW WITH THE WIND AND TIDES

THE CIRCLE GOES ON AND ON

I’VE BEEN WATCHING THESE FLEA LIKE CREATURES

BUMMING RIDES ON THE SHORELINE RUN

BOUNCING OFF THE SEA’S REFLECTION NOON TIME BALL OF SUN

THER'LL COME A DAY WHEN YOU’LL GROW AWAY

AND I'LL BE A SETTING SUN

BUT WHILE WE’RE HERE WE SIT ON THE PIER

WE'RE ONE WITH THE SAND AND THE SUN

I’VE BEEN WATCHING THE SEA LIGHT FLASHING

UP THE WAVE CRESTS SAND AND SUN

BOUNCING OFF OF THE SEA'S REFLECTION

A NOON TIME BALL OF SUN

SMILE AWAY MY LITTLE OCEAN CHILD

 YOUR LIFE HAS ONLY BEGUN
